The first two Super Bowls that Jim Nantz and Tony Romo worked together for CBS lacked drama. “What a thrill to be able to say that we witnessed an overtime Super Bowl game and what will go down in history as one of the greatest games of all time and the longest Super Bowl game of all time. They had New England’s 13-3 victory over the Los Angeles Rams in 2019 and Tampa Bay’s 31-9 rout of Kansas City two years later. This was CBS’ ninth Super Bowl with McManus in charge. “Jim and Tony up at the booth deserved an exciting Super Bowl.

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have agreed to hire Kentucky assistant coach Liam Coen to be their offensive coordinator, a person familiar with the decision told The Associated Press. Coen would replace Dave Canales, who left to become Carolina’s head coach after one season in Tampa Bay. Coen, who was the Wildcats’ offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, spent the 2022 season as the offensive coordinator for the Rams, where Baker Mayfield made four starts. Mayfield revived his career with Canales and the Buccaneers, leading them to an NFC South title and a playoff win. He’s set to become a free agent, and reuniting with Coen increases Tampa Bay’s opportunity to re-sign him.

Stroud in the Precision Passing skills challenge, helping the NFC build a 12-6 lead over the AFC on the opening night of the 2024 Pro Bowl Games. It’s the second year for a revamped format that replaced the traditional Pro Bowl tackle football game last winter in Las Vegas. CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — The National Football League has urged teams for years to hire more minority head coaches. “The league has been struggling to raise the percentage of head coaches of color, particularly Black head coaches,” Lapchick told The Associated Press. Rivera believes the success of existing minority head coaches in the 2023 season “absolutely” impacted the number of minority hires this year. Rivera, like many minority head coaches, hopes that one day color won't be an issue. “There are enough good coaches now where we can start saying, 'Hey, let’s just call everybody a head coach, not necessarily minority head coach.

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) — Josh Allen threw two touchdown passes and ran for another — shrugging off aggravating an injury to his throwing shoulder — and the Buffalo Bills hung on to beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 24-18 on Thursday night. After a week of questions about his “low-energy” approach and Buffalo's slow-starting offense, Allen came through for the Bills (5-3), throwing for 324 yards on 31-of-40 passing. Buffalo’s defense limited the Buccaneers' Baker Mayfield-led attack to less than 200 yards of offense through three quarters and 302 overall. But it took Tampa Bay 17 plays and 7:21 to march 92 yards for that score. Allen took advantage, topping 300 yards for the 23rd time in his career.

These Boston Bruins have not been accustomed to losing streaks. during the regular season, winning 65 games, a single-season record; claiming the Presidents’ Trophy with a league-high of 135 points, 22 points clear of every other team; and outscoring their opponents by 128 goals. But after all that winning, a three-game losing streak, just their second of the season, came at an inopportune time. The Florida Panthers defeated the Bruins, 4-3, in overtime of Game 7 of their first-round playoff series on Sunday night in Boston to complete a rare comeback from a 3-1 series deficit. And they did so against some of the most formidable opposition in the league’s 106-year history: The Bruins had 43 more points than the Panthers did in the regular season.
The Seahawks have won three of their last four while the Giants are on a four-game win streak. The Colts beat their division rivals 34-27 thanks to a last-gasp touchdown from quarterback Matt Ryan to rookie Alec Pierce. Just last week, Giants quarterback Daniel Jones earned NFC Player of the Week honors for his performance against the Jaguars. The Jaguars played in London just last year, when quarterback Trevor Lawrence became the first rookie quarterback to win a regular season game in London. Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence is coming off a turnover-free Week 7 against the Giants.
TAMPA, Fla. — A boy ran onto the field and was tackled hard by a security guard in the second quarter of Tampa Bay’s game against Atlanta on Sunday. A woman who identified herself as the child’s mother told The Associated Press the boy is 10 years old. A police officer later told the AP the boy is older than 10, but he couldn’t release his information because he’s a juvenile. The officer said the mother has several children and was confused about which one jumped onto the field. Tampa Police Department spokesperson Eddy Durkin said the boy was issued a civil citation and given a notice to appear in court.
